This is Mom's original bun recipe that she learned from her Mother (Grandma Hein) who probably learned it from her Mother.....
Mom used only white flour, but you can substitute whole wheat flour to make it more "heart healthy"
2 cups boiling water
2/3 cup sugar
4 tbsp margarine (non-hydrogenated is best)
1 tsp salt
½ cup lukewarm water
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp yeast
When this has frothed and the above mixture is lukewarm. add the two mixtures together, along with 2 eggs.
Grease the top and cover with wax paper.
Put it somewhere warm until it doubles in volume and then punch it down.
Cut it into small cubes (golf ball size) and knead and shape into buns and place in greased pie pans.Let it rise again until it doubles again and then bake at 325 until top browns just slightly.
Remove from oven and whisk tops lightly with margarine
